WhatsApp has had to take a lot of criticism in the past few weeks. Is it thanks to this that the developers are now bringing one new function after the other? With a feature that was long overdue, WhatsApp is getting significantly better.
WhatsApp is the most widely used messenger in this country. The app is far from perfect. You quickly reach the limits of the messenger here and there. Many users don’t know that, but WhatsApp deliberately makes pictures and videos worse. That should change now, however.

Whatsapp deliberately makes pictures bad
So far it has been like this: If you send a picture to one of your contacts, the photo will be compressed when sent by WhatsApp. This is at the expense of quality and is particularly noticeable in terms of sharpness and level of detail. The following is a comparison that shows the original photo on the left before it was sent via WhatsApp and next to it the same image that the chat partner received. The loss of sharpness is clear.
Admittedly, this is not decisive with banal photos that have a lifespan of a few seconds. But there are also many users who share family photos or other memories with friends and family via WhatsApp. And here it is a pity that so much quality is lost along the way. Why does WhatsApp do this? To save data volume. Although the images suffer in terms of their resolution, they do not eat up several megabytes when they are sent, but only take up a few kilobytes.
The new photo dunction makes pictures better
Now WhatsApp is reacting to the criticism of the users regarding the poor photo quality and brings a new function. You will soon be able to determine the quality in which you want to send a picture. There are three options to choose from “Automatic”, “Best Quality” and “Data Saving Mode”.
The same function will soon also be available to users when sending videos. There are one or two things you should keep in mind here that do not necessarily apply to photos. The function that significantly improves the quality of photos and videos for the recipient is still under development. According to the well-informed blog Wabetainfo, it will soon be available as an update for all WhatsApp users. When the time will come is still unclear.
